I have long been concerned about the over-commitment the U.S. has to Israel. The mistake was originally made by England's Balfour Agreement almost 100 years back. Various national and international bodies like the League of Nations, later the United Nations, virtually created Israel.
The Holocaust was the world's worst instance of genocide, that must never be forgotten. But in the last decades the balance of fairness has too often tilted away from the Palestinians, who had no role in that genocide. Restoration of the Jewish historical homeland was neither reasonable nor fair, and now the U.S. is almost inextricably enmeshed in the region's mess (--not forgetting our lust for oil.)

The British Ambassador to Israel, Gould, is another Israel firster who has held secret meetings with US/Israeli lobbyists with links into the British government (Liam Fox). Former ambassador Craig Murray is good at exposing the destructiveness of the Israeli hegemony in western politics.
